A Legacy of Service

General William D. Lackey devoted 35 years to serving our country in the U.S. Air force and North Carolina National Guard. After retiring, General Lackey returned to Statesville and continued his commitment to a lifetime of service, including serving on the Board of Trustees for the Iredell County Community Foundation, one of Foundation For The Carolinas’ 13 regional affiliates.

Rockingham: Looking Back and Looking Forward

Downtown Rockingham was a community faced with hardships, until a partnership led by our regional affiliate in Richmond County partnered with the Discovery Place, local government, the local community college, local businesses and more to revitalize the once thriving downtown:

Our Regional Grantmaking

Foundation For The Carolinas serves the 13-county region around Charlotte. One of our primary ways of doing so is through our regional affiliates.

Led by local boards of advisors, our regional affiliates are grantmaking funds that invest in their local communities. FFTC supports the work by engaging local leaders, managing endowments and facilitating grantmaking. Together, we provide philanthropic solutions to address community issues and invest in the important work of local nonprofits.

Support Community Grantmaking

You can give at any level to support community grantmaking by the various affiliates’ boards of advisors. These volunteers thoughtfully award grants to nonprofits serving the local community – supporting literacy programs for young children, providing critical home repairs, feeding those in need and much more.

Affiliate your giving fund

A giving fund at Foundation For The Carolinas allows you to streamline your charitable giving. Use your fund to meet your unique charitable goals – whether to establish a scholarship program, support broad areas of community need or make grants to the nonprofits most meaningful to you.

You can also help inspire local giving by affiliating your FFTC fund with a regional affiliate. A portion of administrative fees received from your fund will directly support community grantmaking by the board of advisors. You will also learn more about charitable initiatives in that community. Contact your philanthropic advisor or Donor Relations to learn how to affiliate your fund.
