Building momentum together

Powered by the generosity and partnership of our fundholders and community partners, Foundation for the Carolinas is advancing a strategic framework that strengthens philanthropy and drives distinctive civic and social impact throughout our 13-county region. The highlights below reflect steady progress toward our shared goals and the remarkable impact made possible through collaborative action.

2026 Q1 highlights

  • More than 3,100 grants, totaling $196 million, were awarded this quarter by our fundholders to nonprofits making a difference locally and nationwide.
  • Our generous fundholders contributed almost $50 million to their FFTC funds – and 22 new funds were established by companies, families and nonprofits to achieve their charitable vision.
  • An enhanced fundholder portal is coming soon, with a more intuitive, mobile-friendly design, easier grantmaking, clearer fund information and other improvements to make managing your fund online easier than ever.
  • We saw record attendance at our most recent FFTC Connects event, focused on Animal Welfare, which brought fundholders and nonprofits together for learning, dialogue and greater shared impact.
  • Our Robinson Center for Civic Leadership continued the Agility Together Initiative, delivering three workshops for 100 local nonprofits on timely topics in partnership with SHARE Charlotte, United Way of Greater Charlotte and the Lee Institute.
  • The Carolina Theatre celebrated its one-year anniversary and was selected by Charlotte Center City Partners as the recipient of the 2025 City Builder Award as well as named one of Charlotte’s best live music venues by The Charlotte Ledger.
