Agility Together: Understanding Advocacy for Nonprofits

Advocacy doesn’t have to mean hiring a lobbyist, launching a major campaign, or showing up at the state capitol with a bullhorn. In fact, some of the most effective advocacy starts with something much simpler: building relationships, becoming a trusted source of information, and making sure the people who make decisions know your organization and the impact you make. 

Participants will learn what elected officials actually need from nonprofit leaders, credible information, real-world expertise, strong relationships, and, yes, the occasional thank-you note. We’ll also explore concrete ways elected officials can help nonprofits, from troubleshooting challenges with government agencies and improving specific legislation to securing appropriations and other public resources.
