Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fund Established to Invest in Creatives
Foundation For The Carolinas, Charlotte is Creative, Hue House and the Arts & Science Council have announced $6 million in grants from the Arts, Culture & Creativity Fund. With funding from Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte and the THRIVE Fund, grants directly support 123 individual artists and creatives, as well as 50 arts, science and history nonprofit organizations experiencing COVID-19-related challenges. Local Businesses Impacted by Pandemic Receive Grants
Small businesses - such as retailers, salons, fitness studios and more - in neighborhoods all throughout Charlotte have received critical grant funding through the Access to Capital Program. Part of the City for Charlotte’s Open for Business initiative and administered by FFTC, the grants program has awarded $30 million in federal CARES Act funding to 2,500 diverse small businesses that were affected by the pandemic.
COVID-19 Response Fund
Local agencies and nonprofits are already feeling the strain to deal with increased needs in the community.
Foundation For The Carolinas and United Way of Central Carolinas have launched the COVID-19 Response Fund to support a range of organizations assisting people most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
CARES Act: How it Helps Nonprofits
The CARES Act is a $2 trillion economic relief package containing provisions to help nonprofits that are strained as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We've highlighted a few key sections that directly relate to the needs of nonprofit organizations.
Supporting Families of Fallen Healthcare Workers
The Brave of Heart Fund has been established at E4E Relief, a subsidiary of FFTC, to support surviving families of healthcare workers who lose their lives to COVID-19 while caring for others. The New York Life Foundation and Cigna Foundation launched the fund with $25 million each in contributions. Other generous donors have joined the effort to support survivor families in need through the Brave of Heart Fund.
