Cherokee County Community Foundation Endowment Fund
The Cherokee County Community Foundation was established in 1994 by local leaders to encourage philanthropy and secure resources to address local issues. The Foundation brings together charitable donors, community leaders and nonprofit organizations to make positive impacts throughout Cherokee County, South Carolina.
The Foundation has been awarding grants since 1995 that support a wide variety of projects ranging from education programs to human services to youth initiatives. The Board of Trustees consists of local volunteers who know the community and its citizens’ needs, as well as the nonprofits, congregations and government and educational institutions responding to these needs.
The Board of Trustees is proud of the Foundation’s accomplishments and believes that with your help, we can keep building on the incredible foundation of philanthropy established by those who came before us. With continued support from our generous donors and concerned community members, the Foundation can:
Option 1: Grow our community endowment, allowing us to meet the needs of local charities ultimately increasing our annual grantmaking, reach out to more local charities with larger gifts, and foster a spirit of philanthropy that will extend to our future Cherokee County generations. Option 2: Support the Cherokee County Community Indicators project. The Cherokee County Community Indicators Report of May 2010 includes a host of statistics in five key areas: Education, Public Health, Family and Youth, Crime and Safety, and Economic Development. These statistics tell a story of where Cherokee County has been, where it is, and what the future holds. The report, however, is not where this process ends, but is a catalyst for positive improvement and change for Cherokee County and its citizens. A leadership cabinet and committee structure has been developed and is supported by a part-time contractor in order to affect positive change within Cherokee County.
