United Way Legacy Foundation
Foundation For The Carolinas welcomed United Way of Central Carolinas, Inc. to our family of funds with the creation of the United Way Legacy Foundation in 2001.
This partnership will help ensure the strongest possible collaboration between these two organizations in building a significant endowment fund for United Way.
United Way of Central Carolinas and Foundation For The Carolinas have enjoyed a long-standing partnership for the benefit of the community. United Way's Social Planning Committee recommended the formation of a new community foundation for the Charlotte region in 1958 and provided $3,000 in seed money.
Since that time, the two organizations have jointly created and funded a number of programs, including the Regional HIV/AIDS Consortium, Success By 6 and Community Works.
Former United Way executive Gordon Berg served Foundation For The Carolinas as its first president.
