Grants below were awarded through the Critical Need Response Fund, a short-term effort to feed, clothe, shelter and keep warm residents in dire circumstances through the winter months of the economic crisis. This effort concluded in April 2009.

The Baptist Sharing House assists needy families and individuals by providing food and clothing. A $3,374 from the Cabarrus Critical Need Response Fund to the Baptist Sharing House funded the purchase of food supplies. The Fund was short-term effort that addressed increased human service needs due to the economic crisis. |

$3,320 to Cabarrus Meals on Wheels to provide meals to seniors and disabled adults.
$84,694 to Cooperative Christian Ministry to increase the assistance limit and the number of people served.
$22,597 to Habitat for Humanity Cabarrus County to provide mortgage assistance to delinquent homeowners until loan modifications are complete.
$3,374 to Mt. Pleasant Food Ministry to purchase food.
$47,800 to the Salvation Army, Concord Corps to provide utilities assistance, secure overnight accommodations for the homeless on cold nights and purchase items for the food pantry.
$5,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina to provide free food to Cabarrus County partner organizations such as Kids Café sites, senior food distribution or food pantries.
