Robinson Center for Civic Leadership

The Robinson Center for Civic Leadership engages community-minded individuals to address the Charlotte area’s greatest challenges, and to capitalize on our most impactful opportunities.

Project L.I.F.T., a $55 million philanthropic effort to improve educational outcomes in West Charlotte schools, is among the initatives launched by the Robinson Center for Civic Leadership. Click here to learn more.

Established in 2008 as the flagship program of Foundation For The Carolinas, the Center provides funding, convenes leadership and designs initiatives to address key community issues such as education, human service needs and the environment.

Some civic leadership efforts lead to the creation of new entities, such as Carolina Thread Trail and Crossroads Charlotte. Others, such as Citizen's Task Force on CMS, result in studies and reports that provide recommendations and guide policies.

Initiatives launched through the Robinson Center for Civic Leadership are funded by individuals who seek to strengthen our communities. Since its inception, nearly $8.5 million in civic leadership funding has been leveraged to generate a total dollar impact of more than $330 million in our community – a return of nearly $38 per dollar invested.

Foundation For The Carolinas launched the Center in 2008 to create a neutral entity that could bring our community together to address complex issues. The Center was formally named for Sally and Russell Robinson in 2011, honoring two of our community’s most respected civic and philanthropic leaders.
