2007 Total Grants       $5,000

$2,500 to the Lexington Housing Community Development Corporation to expand its economic literacy classes to Spanish-speaking clients.

$1,500 to Project Potential of Lexington for t-shirts and field trip expenses.

$1,000 to Lexington City Schools for the Empty Bowl fundraising event.

Getting Creative for a Cause

In an effort to bring awareness to hunger and homelessness and to fund organizations working to combat those issues, Lexington Middle School art club students and teachers, along with members of the community, created ceramic bowls for the school's inaugural Empty Bowls fundraiser.

A $1,000 grant from the Lexington Area Community Foundation to Lexington City Schools funded the necessary art supplies to make the bowls including clay, glazes and paint brushes.  Proceeds from the sale of the bowls benefited Crisis Ministry of Davidson County.
