Grants Available For Mecklenburg County Nonprofits


The Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund now accepting applications.


October 3, 2007 — The Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund is currently accepting applications from nonprofit organizations for its 2007 Community Connections Grants Program. Grants may be used to support the creation of programs, projects and events that address the mission of the Fund - to cultivate one community that supports lesbian and gay individuals and families.

Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded. Applicants must be nonprofits, congregations, governmental or educational institutions serving Mecklenburg County. Grants will be awarded to programs that:

  • Build understanding and appreciation as well as promote the value of inclusion within the organization's circle of influence, especially lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender populations not previously targeted.
  • Cultivate opportunities for leadership by and the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people.
  • Engage and include people from diverse backgrounds and sexual orientations in programs, services and organizational values.


About the Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund
The Charlotte Lesbian and Gay Fund is an endowment that funds lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organizations, as well as friendly initiatives that seek to cultivate a community that supports diverse individuals and families. The Fund is a charitable gift fund of Foundation For The Carolinas with an Advisory Board responsible for fundraising and grantmaking.
